How to know if system architecture is 32 or 64 bits

This wiki explains how to know if your system is based on a 32 or 64 bits architecture. To install KeyLemon, it's important to know this to download the right package. Note that if you have the wrong package that will not install with an explanation message.

In general, if the notion of 32/64 bits you can say anything it means that your system is running on 32 bits.

On Windows XP

Follow the instructions below:

  1. right click on “my computer” in the start menu
  2. choose “Properties” on context menu
  3. Click the General tab. The operating system appears as follows:
    • For a 64-bit version operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> appears under System.
    • For a 32-bit version operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version <Year> appears under System.

On Windows Vista

Follow the instructions below:

  1. right click on “Computer” in the start menu
  2. choose “Properties” on context menu
  3. The operating system appears as follows:
    • For a 64-bit version operating system: 64-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.
    • For a 32-bit version operating system: 32-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.
